2017 KGC Classic winners

Kilkeel Golf Club Classic - Report and results.

The Kilkeel Golf Club Classic was held over four days from Thursday 20th to Sunday 23rd July with some fantastic prizes for Gents, Ladies and Society golfers. The main sponsors for the event were Down PVC and Lexus Belfast.

Fundraisers and organisers

 

The first prizes awarded on Sunday night were for closest to the pin on the par 3 11th and 15th holes. The 11th hole prizes were won by Adrianne McCullough on Thursday, Martin Scullion on Friday, Brendan Gallagher on Saturday and J. Davenport on Sunday. The 15th hole prizes were won by Robin McCullough on Thursday, Jerry Scullion Snr on Friday, Justin Bonner on Saturday and Simon Scott on Sunday.

The prize for the longest drive for Ladies on the 9th hole was won by Adrianne McCullough on Thursday, Maire  McKibbin on Saturday and Carol Sloan on Sunday. Prizes for the Gents longest drive on the 18th hole were won by Tommy Lappin on Thursday, Aidan O’Neill on Friday, Keith Little on Saturday and Pat Mallon on Sunday.

Resident professional Jerry Scullion hit a tee shot on the par 3 8th hole with all those who beat his tee shot being entered in a prize draw. There were eight names in the hat and the lucky winner was Junior McKnight who will receive a Lexus Jeep for a long weekend courtesy of Lexus Belfast. Runner up was Tommy Madden who won a golf bag. Unfortunately  none of the competitors won the £1000 prize for a hole in one at this hole.

First prize in the Ladies Competition which was sponsored by Daphne Priestly was won by Carol Sloan, Eileen Hamill, Linda Moorhead and A.M Higgins.

Second prize which was sponsored by The Kilmorey Arms Hotel and was won by Daphne Priestly, Marina McDowell, Mary Cunningham and Anita Agnew.

First prize in the Society Golfers category was won by Niall McGoran, Jamie Grant, James Murdock and Ryan Magee. Second prize was won by David Niblock, Aaron Clydesdale, Cyril Johnston and Alan Wilson with third prize going to Steven Edgar, A. Charleton, Johnny Turner and Aidan O’Neill.

Overall first prize in the Gents category, which was a fourball and overnight stay at Lough Erne Golf Resort, was won by Willie Sloan, Graeme Morrow, Clarence Morrow and Trevor Weir.

KGC Classic Gents winners

Second prize which was a fourball and overnight stay at The Slieve Russell Golf and Country Club was won by Brendan Gallagher, Colin Moan, Stanley Hanna and Bobby Watts. Third prize of four golf trollies was won by Leslie Edgar, Chloe Fitzpatrick David McCartan and John Campbell.

The prize giving was followed by a raffle sponsored by Mercedes Belfast and presented by their representative Paul McNally. First prize was a Mercedes Sport Convertible for a long weekend and this was won by Danielle Sherry. Second prize, a Mercedes kit bag was won by Mary Curran, third prize, a Mercedes golf umbrella was won by Brendan Gallagher and fourth prize was a voucher sponsored by Wadsworths of Newcastle which was won by Club President Liam McCartan.

The final activity of the night called on auctioneer Leslie Edgar to auction a Stenna Line Ferry crossing for a car and four people from Belfast to Cairnryan or Liverpool  kindly sponsored by Mr and Mrs Stephen Cranston. The winning bid came from  Mr Jarlath McKibbin who grabbed himself a bargain for £350

Thanks must also go to Mrs Maire McKibbin, event co-ordinator and her team of helpers in the fundraising committee without whom this would not have been possible.
