Synopsis of Council Meetings 8th May 2023
The captain Mr. Paschal Morgan welcomed everyone present.
Matters Arising from previous Minutes
Catering – Kitchen not ready for new Caterer to move in. Hopefully a limited menu for Saturday & Sunday 13th & 14th May and open the following weekend.
Pro-Am Some thought to be given to a Pro-am for Centenary year 2024 subject to a main sponsor.
Condolences – Letter of Sympathy to the family of Joan Cassidy Past Lady Captain & Lady President and wife of the late Dr. T. Cassidy (Cassidy Cup)
Interclub Match Update.
Jimmy Bruen lost to Bangor, Ulster Cup lost to Portadown, Junior Cup beat Lurgan, Irish Mixed Foursomes lost to Donaghadee, Pierce Purcell lost to Royal Belfast, Barton Shield beat Scrabo. A big thank you to the Team Captains and Players.
2 x4 ball Voucher – Fundraiser for 2 Charities granted.
Sub Committee Reports –
Fundraising – Big Draw to take place over coming months £20 per ticket or 3 for £50. Draw in October. To make the draw successful members will be requested to sell a minimum of 3 tickets each.
Tee sign Sponsorship – to be erected asap. 17 tees sponsored.
Fence at Putting Green – Convenor has identified two sponsors who are willing to display business signs. Cost to be agreed.
House
Kitchen receiving a deep clean. Council has appointed Patrick (Paddy) Brennan as full time barperson.
Locker Room -Shoe compartments – to be used to put non golfing shoes whilst playing golf. Golf Shoes to be kept in Locker or taken home. Shoe spaces are not part of locker rental and should not be used to store golf shoes.
Match & Handicaps – KGC to write to Golf Ireland suggesting the interclub matches to revert back to two leg home and away.
Senior Competition for June to be cancelled as the Senior Opens are not being supported.
Juniors – There is a need to develop our Junior Section. Suggestion to offer a four month’s membership.
An Open Day to promote all categories of membership to be considered.
