Junior Cowdy v Mannan Castle (2nd Leg)

Report from Team Captain – Dan Sloan.
After the first leg of this Junior Cowdy match against Mannan Castle, Kilkeel were 3-1 down and 4 holes behind. In the second leg last Sunday, this time at Kilkeel, the home side were led out by Charlie Crozier and Hugh Greene. It was a tough match all the way with no more than a hole in it all the way round and eventually finished all square.
Second out was Damien Grant and Liam Murphy who were always in control and had a great 5 and 4 win.
Third pair out was Sean O’Hare and Peter Fitzpatrick, this was a hard match where Kilkeel were behind in the front nine by 3 holes at one stage. Then Sean chipped in for a birdie at the eighth which seemed to rattle the Mannan players who eventually lost 4 and 3, a great turn-around from the Kilkeel pairing.
It all hinged on the last match with John Pat Trainor and Raymond Cassidy battling back from 3 down with some good golf from both men. They fought round to be 1 up playing 17 but it looked like possibly losing the hole, until ‘hero of the day’ John Pat sunk a putt from off the green for a par to send Kilkeel through.
A great team effort by all which results in a next round match against either Tandragee or Dungannon.

Juniors win at Loughgall.

Juvenile Convenor Lee Annett reported that the KGC Juvenile team of Louis Poland , Jonny Burns, Riley Houston, Charlie McComb and Christopher Poland travelled to Loughgall to compete in the first round of the Ronan Rafferty Trophy.
