Synopsis of Council meeting 20th November 2023.

Captain Paschal Morgan chaired the meeting.

Matters Arising: –

  • Ladies branch thanked for their valuable help at the Fundraising Big Breakfast.
  • Golf HR. – Employees Handbook and Contracts Templates almost complete.
  • Lee Annett has offered to rescind his resignation as Junior Convenor.
  • Richard Doran has accepted continuous employment.
  • Captain’s Statement – Captain advised council he had served his punishment, faced the critics who did not agree with council decision and would not be sending out an apology. President advised council that by not sending out a message on BRS does not fix the existing problems. (identified in previous meeting)
  • Entertainment Licence renewal – awaiting some reports before submitting application.

Correspondence: –

  • Sport NI Sustainability Grant – Unfortunately KGC was not randomly selected on this occasion.
  • Jobstart – KGC has secured funding for two 25 hours per week for six months to train employees additional skills.
  • Ladies Branch – Request to hold a 9 holes Shotgun Start on Tuesday 5th December – Agreed.

The First tee will be closed from 9am – 11am. Tees 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, & 9 will be closed at 10am for 10 minutes. Back nine will be open.

  • British Heart Foundation – An application will be made for an additional Defibrillator, if successful it will be located at the Greenkeepers shed.

Hon Treasurer’s Report.

Victor Quinn presented the monthly accounts for payment. – Agreed.

Sub Committee Reports

FUNDRAISING

Big Draw An additional letter has been circulated pleading members to return their tickets and money for the Big Draw before 8th December. If everyone could make their returns, we will make the draw a success. New date for the draw is 16th December 2023.

Big Breakfast raised £825. Gratitude to everyone who supplied food, did the cooking and helped in every way.

GREENS 

The drainage required at holes 13th & 14th to be addressed.

A number of trees having to be felled will require replacement. Advice to be sought from Woodland Trust. Dry-jecting of 13 greens has been carried out. Additional 5 will be treated later.

MATCH & HANDICAPS

Winter League delayed due to inclement weather conditions. Report filed on Website- Members Section.

Annual review of handicaps has taken place.

The engraving of all trophies is being arranged.

HOUSE

Santa will visit the Club on Saturday 16th December. Details will be posted on KGC Facebook page.

Catering Executive Committee to meet with the Caterer to address her request for a retainer.
